Fox and studio 20th Century Fox Television are locking down Nasim Pedrad.
The Saturday Night Live alum has inked a talent holding and development deal with the network and studio, The Hollywood insight has learned.
The pact calls for Pedrad to write, create and star in a comedy. 3 Arts Entertainment is attached to executive produce. The in-demand actress who fielded multiple pilot offers this season followed Fox’s Mulaney with a series regular role on the network/studio’s horror comedy anthology Scream Queens from Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan, which is now in production in New Orleans. Pedrad is also currently recurring on Fox’s New Girl.
“Nasim’s an undeniable creative force in front of the camera and a brilliant writer/producer behind the camera,” 20th Century Fox Television president of creative affairs Jonnie Davis said. “We’ve long admired her work on SNL and Mulaney, and we think she’ll be hugely valuable to us on the comedy side. First up, she’ll join Scream Queens — why shouldn’t her introduction to the 20th family be on one of our most anticipated new shows from one of our greatest showrunners? And we can’t wait to develop with her later this year.”
Added Fox Broadcasting entertainment president David Madden: “Nasim is not only one of the most talented comedic actresses out there today, she’s also a formidable writer with a clear, bitingly witty point of view. With her role on Scream Queens and the ideas she’s already bringing to the table for development, we are so excited for her to be an even bigger part of the Fox family this year.”
Pedrad is repped by CAA, 3 Arts and attorney Warren Dern.
