Seinfeld is in talks to secure an SVOD deal for its 180 episodes.
The 1990s sitcom’s rights will be sold by Sony Pictures Television to one of the following online video service bidders: Hulu, Amazon or Yahoo.
According to The Wall Street Journal who first reported the news on Friday, Netflix passed on the show, but Sony hopes for a higher price than the $500,000 per episode Netflix paid to Warner Bros. for Friends in 2014.
Selling prices are said to be dependent in part on the duration of the deal.
The NBC sitcom’s potential secured streaming deal will not affect reruns aired on TBS and local television stations, which the show has continued to maintain its success from in the past decade.
Seinfeld stars include Jerry Seinfeld, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jason Alexander and Michael Richards.
